This is what Genesis says about their Equilibrium.
"This is a lightweight, durable Reynolds 725 frame, classic looks, can take full-length mudguards Is a sublime ride with handling qualities that has made it a true riders' favorite. A genuine four-season UK road bike.
More relaxed geometry versus a conventional road race frame (longer wheelbase, slacker head tube angle & more fork offset), the Equilibrium is a favorite for all riders. It's no slouch, the surefooted geometry, spritely steel frame and fork work wonders to smooth out and tame the worst of the UK broken roads and will have you descending and cornering like you're on rails."

One of my favorite jobs is to build from scratch, guided by my customers wish list.
Tifosi frame bought from Gocycleshop. Built up here in Ringmer in the bikerepairbox with parts sourced by myself to get a mid-range value ride that will glide through the toughest of British winters. Budget components cannot last the harsh winters out there.
The CK Columbus double-butted 7005 alloy frame is top notch — on the sporty side of stiff. This directness is complemented by the aero profiling of the down tube.
The fork and rear stays have room for mudguards and can take tyres up to 28mm. The fork is made from Tifosi’s own carbon and increases the comfort at the front end, adding to the zippy speed afforded by the rest of the bike.
The CK7 is constructed from double-butted 7005 Aluminium, which has been finished in an anti-corrosion primer, plus two coats of paint for added durability.
This truly is a beautifully put together frame with a 10/10 top finish. I am very impressed with the paintwork, jointing, and the Headset and Bottom bracket shells have been carefully prepared ready
for chosen components. Dropouts are clean and finished well.
This build: From parts sourced individually over time.
Frame: XS CK7 with Tifosi's own Carbon Fork.
Headset: Semi intergrated headset. HS18 1 1/8" Tifosi. Provided by frame supplier.
Seat Post: Tifosi budget Carbon Seatpost 31.6mm.
Crankset: FSA Triple Gossemer 10 speed 50/39/30 Crankset and BB
STI Levers: Shimano 105 STI levers, Brake Calipers, front and rear deraileurs. Complete with extra shims for small hand reach.
Rear Cassette: Shimano 12-30 Tiagra.
Wheelset: Gorda Pro-Lite 700c Wheels.
Tyres: Continental Sports Extra 25mm
Cockpit: FSA 42mm Handle bars 31.8mm centre with Fizik Bar Gel and Deda Bar tape. Stem of choice 80mm 6 degree Riser.
Saddle: Womens Selle Italia Diva Gel flow 152mm Wide.
Mudguard Set for winter use: Lifline Narrow 38mm set for use with 18-28mm tryes.
Several months into the 'not so nice' weather and I am putting some miles on the Tifosi. I am really happy with this choice of bike. Its perfect for long winter rides and has ample room for adding wider tyres if needed. But, its still going to be a great all year round bike due to its wonderful handling and quality.
Handling:
Smooth and very comfortable. Not super quick but very solid and sure going down hill over terrible road surfaces.
The feeling of almost a dampening feel as you ride on 25mm tyres with the Carbon fork and seatpost.
Frame:
Holding out really well . Paintwork still perfect, washes well and seems to shed mud and dirt very easly. Good clearance allows for a set of solid quite mudguards to be used.
Riding buzz:
Yep it has that, as well as looking really rather cool, the ride is so dependable without the often twitchy issues on some roads that you just want to push it faster and faster espeically down hill. Load up with a carbon seat post and it becomes a fast armchair ride.
Simple lines, simple looks. Is it simple to build? Not always.
Requirements for this project to look smart, classic and function as we would like but with a modern twist needs consideration. Parts to source takes time. This 1960's Peugeot frame has specific tube dimensions unlike many other bikes built in its time.
The seatpost tube size is unique, the Headset is threaded and of 1" but if you want a classic look not all headsets will fit the look.
I like to try and get original parts or close matches. Sourcing parts typically can take longer than the actual build but are all part of the fun.
This bike hopefully will give my client plenty of fun this summer.
